STRONGLY COMMITTED TO:

Improving Roads & Infrastructure

Rapid population growth is straining roads, traffic flow, street lighting, and public services. We must plan responsibly to sustain quality service levels.

Timely Funding for All County Schools

As our county grows, we must ensure adequate school funding, responsible budgeting, and strong accountability to support students and protect taxpayers.

Cutting Waste & Duplication of Services

With nearly $1 billion in county debt, we must eliminate inefficiencies, reduce duplication, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and transparently.

MY MISSION

As a County Commissioner, I will not only support the needs of the constituents in my district, but work to do what is best for all of Williamson County.

I am a team player and will work with my fellow commissioners to create the teamwork necessary to move Williamson County forward.

I fully support the TEAM concept – Together Everyone Achieves More.

I have several points of interest and concerns in running for County Commissioner.  I would like to continue to enhance the quality of education in the Williamson County schools and timely funding for them, keeping them a top priority so every child has the best opportunity to grow and succeed in life.  I seek to maintain good safe roads and infrastructure.  I want to see our tax dollars, our obligations, and growth managed carefully and effectively – cutting waste and duplication of services.  Every Department should use the money appropriated to them with smart spending.  I will be your voice and your voice will be heard.

GROWTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE • Because of Williamson County’s appeal and heritage, the county will continue to grow, but leadership must manage the inevitable growth.  Protecting quality of life in Williamson County by monitoring and managing growth is essential.  Preserving greenspace balance and farmlands is critical.  I strongly believe a healthy balance of greenspace is not the enemy of growth, but something that will make Williamson County even more appealing.

LEADERSHIP • As a businessman, I know the importance of a budget and being able to meet my financial obligations.  I cannot in good conscience seek your vote with a promise that your taxes won’t be raised.  A candidate that would campaign on such a promise lacks the leadership and maturity for the job.  That candidate either fails to understand, or simply ignores the fact that the County Commission is a body of 24 commissioners, with 13 votes comprising a majority.  As for taxes, and each issue before me, I will use the same principles of common sense, fairness, and integrity that have served me as a business owner.  They have earned the respect of my customers, and they will earn me the respect of my constituents in the 12th District.

ETHICS AND CONFLICTS OF INTEREST • Throughout the halls of government, ethics of officials are major concerns to the people.  Across America people have become very concerned about the actions of their elected officials.  Our own County Commission is not immune from members with conflicts of interest and self-serving agendas.  A County Commissioner should work to represent the district and make Williamson County a better place for its citizens.  A County Commissioner should not serve on behalf of special interests or one’s own personal gain.  As a commissioner, I will always seek to avoid any conflict of interest or the appearance of such.  Should any conflict of interest ever present itself, I will definitely declare a conflict of interest as required by the law.

INSTITUTIONS/INFRASTRUCTURE • As our county grows, so do the challenges of services keeping pace with growth.  It is important that commissioners keep a sharp focus on finances and obligations.  Tax dollars must go where they return the greatest investment for our citizens and our future.  Schools that prepare our children for college and today's job skills, highly trained and professional law enforcement, and roads that handle traffic volume are all necessary to make Williamson County the place people choose to call home.

OUR COUNTY’S GREATEST ASSETS • Our county has great wealth, but its greatest asset is our young people.  Wealth does not shelter young people from the peer pressure and challenges they face.  It is important that the County Commission and the community continue to reach out to young people - to listen, learn and invest in them.  They deserve our best:  the best schools, safer roads and highways, recreational facilities, and parks.  Young people are Williamson County’s future, and its best investment.

MY STORY

Kahn Garrett is dedicated to doing what he can to contribute worthwhile and lasting improvements that will enhance and improve the quality of life in Williamson County.

A native of the city of Franklin and Williamson County, Kahn Garrett has lived in this county his entire life.  He and his wife, Connie, reside in the 12th district of Williamson County and have a daughter, Amanda.

He started working at the age of 10 cutting lawns.  And as a young man of 15, he worked at the service station and garage on West Main Street in Franklin that he later purchased, and for 46 years owned and operated it as a full-service gas station with two bays available for car maintenance.  In 2016, he sold the building and property, which is now Hank’s Coffee Station.  He has since kept his business going as a mobile auto mechanic.  His business experience has taught him to be a leader and how to be a good manager of people.  He credits his uncle for having taught him the value of money and how to be successful.

As a businessman for over 50 years, he has given back to the community.  Kahn is a familiar presence at community events, as well as an underwriter and contributor to many worthwhile causes.

To his customers, he is simply “Kahn.”  Above all, he is their friend.
